Just before Christmas, I was given a pet squirrel. He's a cutie....you know, a rodent with a fluffy tail. His name is Earl. He has been a pleasure to me. I took him to the livestock show last week and it made me a kid magnet deluxe. I had plenty of "squirrel sitters" amongst all the cute little 4H kids running around. Earl was a hit.
Isn't it amazing how a common thing like a squirrel can attract so much "ohh's and ahh's" even from people who are used to seeing them outside their windows daily? The reason being that even though we're USED to squirrels...we're NOT used to being able to hold and handle them up close! Suddenly the common squirrel becomes an uncommon experience!
At the risk of sounding degrading, that's an example of what God is doing in the earth right now. Most people in
God is doing a thing that's going to set many people in "shock mode"...
He's coming near. His desire is to be PERSONAL with us!
If you'll let Him, He will come close. He will come upon you,
rest on you and ROCK your world!!
Some people meeting Earl were fearful. Some of you are afraid of God like that. You're afraid of Him coming too close. You want God to stay at a "safe" distance...see Him only through stained glass windows. I'm telling you God is bored of that!! He wants to come CLOSE!! He wants to
leave His scent on you! The essence of God on someone is more uncommon than a squirrel on someone's shoulder and will draw far more attention! This world NEEDS God to come close, but He must have
a person to come UPON! Are you that person? Are you unsatisfied
with gazing at God from a "safe" distance? If so, tell Jesus
"I'm here, I'm hungry for You....I want MORE"!!
