Many people come to Jesus, get forgiven and totally blessed, only to lose their joy, fairly rapidly. Often, the reason this happens is because the new believer sets out with a desire to do things for God, to become a better person and a stronger Christian. As noble as the intentions are, it only leads to burnout and frustration. Why? Because God never intended for us to do this! We’ve only presumed that it is our “Christian duty” to do so! When God placed Adam in the garden, He gave him a mandate to guard it and oversee it under God's direction.
