Have you noticed how so many things in so many people’s lives are being shaken now as never before? In my travels this past week I visited with lots of people but one thing became blatantly clear to me…so many people in different situations had one thing in common…what USED to be a “sure thing” or what they have “always done” is suddenly shifting on them. I’m reminded of Hebrews 12:26-29:
Whose voice then shook the earth, but now He has
promised, saying, yet once more I shake not the earth
only, but also heaven. And this word, yet once more,
signifies the removing of things that can be shaken,
as of things that are made that those things which
cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we receiving
a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace,
whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence
and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.
(italics mine)
We are OBVIOUSLY in a time of shaking. It has only begun. God’s Kingdom is coming to earth and everything that isn’t aligned to His Kingdom is heading for a complete crack up. Though this is EXTREMELY uncomfortable at the moment, for those who desire to walk with God, this is very needful and actually good news!

Let me just say that a lot of what is happening in our lives at this time….however uncomfortable it may be at the moment…is God’s GRACE for us. Think of it this way: For those on the Titanic, it was MOST UNCOMFORTABLE to step out of their plush, cozy cabins and expose themselves to the frigid night air in a primitive life boat, but those who DID….LIVED. Only a few people on the Titanic knew it was going down in the beginning, and those who acted on their advice made the transition from a sinking ship to something far less elaborate but were saved because of it.
This is what God is doing for those who have an ear to hear. His love and mercy is great and He will guide and yes, even shove us out of one place that He knows is going to sink, in order to move us on to something solid. I can’t possibly know what this means for you but I DO know a few principles that will be the deciding factor as to whether or not we make this transition successfully.
First and foremost: Align your life to the will of the Lord.
Anything that you KNOW is out of whack with Him…FIX…
repent of it and get right. This includes such things as the tithe. (Though, obviously is not limited to the tithe.) If you are not a tither, you are about to be in a world of hurt as this earthly economy goes through major upheavals. If your hope is in this nation’s economy, you are clinging to a sinking Titanic.
Align your life to the will of
the Lord. Anything that you
KNOW is out of whack with
Him…FIX…repent of it
and get right.
Next, strive as never before to LEARN how to discern the Lord’s voice. His sheep KNOW His voice. If you are one of His….it’s in your DNA to be able to HEAR Him. He will lead you into triumph, but to lead infers that you and I FOLLOW. I must HEAR to be able to follow. Going to church is good, but that alone won’t cut it….we MUST learn to LISTEN to the ever present leadings of the Lord! It will be VITAL in the coming days!
Trust Him. I know it may be hard right now with doors closing and things shutting down in your life…but TRUST HIM. He may simply be moving you FROM something that has had its time and purpose in the past but has no place where He’s taking you next.
Economically speaking, we may NEED to make some drastic changes to be prepared for the times ahead and it’s simply not like us to initiate uncomfortable changes on our own. We usually have to be forced into such. I truly think the word for the hour may be to “simple down”. Get rid of excess…pay off debts…if at all possible, own a piece of land that is debt free, that has your own source of water and electricity and food sources.

If things are getting tight, it just may be God’s grace, letting you know that it’s time to stop dragging your feet and make some changes in your life that will create changes in your economy. We are co-laborers WITH Christ. That means we have a part to do and even though our part may be limited to what we can do in the natural, if we obey the Lord in what is our part, He will do the SUPERNATURAL that is needed to cover us and sustain us in the days ahead.
Let the word of God be the plumb line that you line up your life to.
Finally….stay true to Him. When all the world and much of the church is condoning compromise….stay true. Let the word of God be the plumb line that you line up your life to. God LOVES to show Himself strong on behalf of those who put their trust in Him. He is LOOKING for a people who will allow Him to bless, to cover, to provide for….to FATHER. Until next time………
